Help center

The Help center explains how to use Signalyst while keeping your current page in place. It contains 14 searchable guides for account access, portfolio figures, research and account workflows. Reading help does not refresh your data, run AI or change your broker records.

Choose the right kind of help

  • Help center: use the signed-in panel for product instructions and calculation explanations. Suggestions relate to the page you opened it from; they do not diagnose your account.
  • Ask: use authenticated Ask for a question about the selected account’s evidence. Inspect the answer’s sources, dates and limitations before drawing conclusions.
  • Public documentation: browse the public guides without signing in. The optional public assistant answers product questions; it cannot inspect your portfolio, create accounts or reset passwords.
  • Access support: contact your account Owner for broker-account membership or role changes. Contact your Signalyst administrator for sign-in access or a password reset. There is no self-service registration or password-reset email.

Open and close the panel

Select Help beside notifications, or Help center in the navigation footer. On a phone, open the navigation menu to find the footer entry. Help opens from the right on a large screen and fills the viewport on smaller screens. It remains available when you have no accessible broker account or an account page cannot load.

Some pages open an article directly: Help with portfolio valuation appears in Portfolio’s valuation details, and Help with data health accompanies a failed account-data read in Manage. The small information buttons beside individual metrics still provide short definitions.

Use Close, press Escape, or select the backdrop outside the panel on a large screen. Closing restores focus to the opening control when it is still visible; opening from the mobile menu returns focus to the menu button. Your underlying page keeps its scroll position and filters. Following an application workflow link navigates to that page and closes Help.

Search and browse

  1. Start with the three On this page suggestions, or choose a category under Browse topics.
  2. Enter a topic in Search help, such as returns, cost basis, imports or access. Search includes article titles, common alternative terms, instructions and the calculation definitions included in those articles. It searches the bundled help guides, not your account records or the entire documentation website.
  3. Select a result to read its explanation, What to do steps when provided, and related articles.
  4. Use the panel’s Back control to return through related articles and then to your search results or category. This is separate from the browser’s Back button.
  5. Select Read the product guide for the corresponding public product-concepts section, or Open full documentation for the public guide index. Both open in a separate tab.

Search ignores case and accents and matches all the words entered. If there are no results, try a shorter phrase or select Browse all topics. Typing a question searches existing articles; it does not submit the question to an assistant. For keyboard navigation, use Tab or Shift+Tab between controls, Enter to follow links, and Enter or Space to activate buttons. Focus stays inside the panel until it closes.

Getting started

  • Importing your broker records: select the account that owns the records, then open Imports & inventory. Prepare the supported DEGIRO exports and inspect the import result and Data health. An accepted import does not establish complete price, return or intelligence coverage. Follow the first-import instructions.
  • Selecting an account and understanding access: Viewers inspect data and ask questions; Editors can also import and refresh; Owners additionally manage account members and settings. Membership in a broker account and access to global administration are separate. See access and sign-in help.

Portfolio and performance

  • Understanding your portfolio value: distinguish actual holdings and cash from instruments tracked for research. Read the valuation date, source and coverage beside the figure. Use Open Holdings to inspect the selected account’s positions.
  • How performance and returns are calculated: compare time-weighted return, money-weighted return (XIRR), unrealized gain and unrealized return using their displayed periods and bases. The article includes the same calculation definitions used beside the metrics. Open Performance continues the investigation; its selected period does not redefine current holding gains or risk measurement windows.
  • Understanding holding gains and cost basis: check the remaining acquisition cost and the transaction history supporting it. Missing acquisition history is not a zero cost. Open Imports & inventory to inspect available records. The same-time transaction policy explains how purchases and sales with identical execution timestamps are handled.
  • Why a figure is unavailable: distinguish a missing prerequisite from a measured zero or a failed request. Read the qualification beside the figure and open Data health for the affected account. A page’s Retry control retries a read; it does not fill missing history.
  • Reading risk and market context: inspect measurement windows, aligned observations and coverage before interpreting volatility, drawdown, concentration or market regime. A market-wide move does not prove what caused a holding’s price change. Read Market Context for the distinction between measured movement and a possible explanation.

For missing prices, currency evidence or incomplete account records, read daily valuation and data limitations. The guide explains possible causes; your account’s Data health provides evidence about which inputs are actually missing.

Research and insights

  • Tracking an instrument without owning it: open Watchlist to follow instruments for the selected account’s research. Tracking affects discovery and topic visibility, never holdings, exposure, valuation or returns. Removing tracking does not sell a holding or remove imported records.
  • Reading insights, confidence, and sources: open Developments and inspect the publications, dates, interpretation and uncertainty behind an insight. Confidence is not a probability that the price will rise or fall. Measured facts and generated interpretations have different roles.
  • What you can ask Signalyst: open Ask for questions using the selected account’s read-only facts, activity, market signals, news, intelligence and retained Actions. Read the answer’s sources and freshness limitations. See questions and evidence.

Actions and account management

  • What happens when you accept a recommendation: Open Actions to inspect an advisory review. Accept records agreement, Reject records disagreement and Ignore sets a review aside. None executes an order or changes broker holdings. Signalyst rechecks current evidence before accepting a proposal. Read Actions and stale evidence.
  • Checking data health and freshness: Open Data health, inspect the affected check and observation date, then follow the relevant import or refresh workflow. Check its retained result before assuming the data is complete. A queued job or next eligible time is not a completion promise.
  • Finding account workflows and global settings: Manage owns the selected account’s imports, data health, refresh workflows, history, access and review policy. Admin owns application-wide instruments, news sources, providers, users and diagnostics. Open Refresh workflows goes to account operations. Insight synthesis, embedding and extraction providers have distinct roles.
  • Understanding updates and browser alerts: the notification bell shows retained updates for the selected account. Unread state is specific to this browser, signed-in identity and account; marking items read does not acknowledge them for every browser. Open Browser alerts to inspect personal delivery settings. Blocked browser alerts do not prevent in-app updates.

Continue in the correct account

An account workflow link shows Continue with and the account name. Check that name before following it. The destination keeps the account context and a return link to the originating task where supported. Opening a workflow does not grant permission to run it; its usual access checks and role requirements still apply.

On global Admin, combined-account, personal-settings or account-recovery pages, Help can explain account workflows without choosing an account for you. If it says Select an accessible broker account to open this workflow, close Help and open an account-scoped page for the intended account, then reopen the article. A remembered account alone is not enough. The personal Browser alerts link does not require a selected broker account.

Troubleshooting and reading state

  • An article is unavailable: use the panel’s Back control or search for the topic. The rest of Help remains available.
  • The panel cannot load: use the visible public-documentation fallback. Reload the application to retry loading Help. Help cannot repair an unavailable application bundle itself.
  • The page behind Help failed: read the guidance, then close Help and use that page’s Retry control. Opening Help does not retry the request or start a refresh.
  • A figure remains unavailable: inspect the named prerequisite and the relevant workflow’s result. Repeatedly opening Help or retrying a successful read does not add missing evidence.

Search terms, the selected topic and the article trail last only while the panel is open. Closing, application navigation, reloading or signing out clears that reading state. Search runs in the browser without a help API request or AI call. Public documentation links do not include account IDs, page filters or return URLs. Opening a public guide is a separate website visit; submitting a question to its optional assistant is a separate action from searching local Help.
